I'm disgusted that there's been no mention of this on the BBC, on Radio-4 atleast, as far as I know. I only know because my daughter told me on the phone just now. Imagine if the marines were British or -- Heaven forbid gosh shucks Yanks!!!!!! I'm fecking fuming.

It was top news yesterday (I found out via the BBC yesterday)...and the Dutch wanted to keep it quiet so they could negotiate their release, it only went public when Gadaffi's scum paraded them in that way that Islamic countries like to do.
Not sure why you are so angry (unless your anger is at Libya/Gadaffi, then it's totally understandable).

My excuse is that I was out all day yesterday taking delivery of a new(er) vehicle, and out most of today trying it out by driving to the coast and back. Worth every penny. I was fuming with the BBC and Gaddafi, but now it's only Gaddafi, the unmitigated twat.

Gaddafi is indeed an unmittigated twat. I look forward to seeing him swinging from a lampost whilst being pelted with shoes in the near future. (His name is hard to spell as well, I always get the number d's and f's mixed up...which adds to his unlikableness IMO) The Dutch Navy folk will be released unharmed soon I reckon. These dictators are all the same, when it comes to the crunch, they know that harming western folks will get them fucked over horribly. AH

Lest we forget . . . Gaddafi: "For Allah's sake, it's come to THIS!" Blair: "So the money'll be in Cherry's Cayman Islands account tomorrow! Excellent!"

I reckon the cloggies got the munchies and stopped for a schmoke.
Incidentally, my father-in-law was with the army in North Africa during WWII. He was a cook and was in Libya and Egypt until 1947. Once, when showing some photos of his time there, I spotted one where a woman in robes was walking in front of the camels and men. My father-in-law explained that the area around Tobruk had been heavily mined during the war and stray mines were being discovered all the time so it was the one and only time in his five years in North Africa that he saw women walking in front of men.

Blair was just carrying on his idol's tradition. Truly heart-warming. Not that either of them would know anything about hearts.

I was made aware of the Campaign Against the Arms Trade website today that interestingly points out that we were still selling Gaddafi stuff up until the end of last year!

oh Pinochet, was talking about him the other day. Is he dead yet? The Spanish wanted him to answer questions about Spanish nuns who died in Chile during his cruel days, Mrs Thatcher stood up for him and Tony Blurp at the time eventually let him go back to Chile.on grounds of poor health even the Chileans here wanted him to go to Spain to answer questions their views were ignored too.
