I wish the real TOTP would come back. I was just thinking about that today funnily enough, and got all excited when I saw this thread, but it's just more repeats I see.
I like to know what's in the Top 30, and TOTP was a great way of keeping up without effort.
Since QOTT has left home (and no longer has chart music blaring out 24/7) we're a bit out of touch. I haven't even heard Rihanna's latest . .

In the Guardian today it said that it was taken off because the audience dropped from 15,000,000 to 1,000,000: but surely that was only after they started buggering about with it? Thursday night was the ideal night because you could talk with your friends about it the next day: but it was also near the end of the week. Friday was just wrong.
I used to hate it sometimes though: when you were sure that someone would be on because their record had gone up 30 places: but instead they had some bozo who'd stayed the same (usually Cliff Richard).
Guess what my two favourite TOTPs performances were?

The TOTP audience was always very naff what I remember of it. It was mostly made up of drama students who saw it as a reasonable addition to the cv. So long as you didn't mind wearing silly paper hats and doing the conga to Black Lace. oops..showing my age now.

I saw in the paper the other day that Keith Fordyce had died. For our younger board members, he was the host of "Ready, Steady, Go" ('The weekend starts here'). It was a very mod programme (I shouldn't think Weyland watched it).
Riot, I know what you mean about being out of touch with music. I found that happened to us when our two left home. You'll soon get used to it and before long you'll be saying "Who's that singing? I could walk past him in the street and not know him" I say that all the time.
