Woman's Hour this morning; One of these so called music experts went "Well! Yah! They were, like, were born in the early eighties, so they're very much influenced by the synths of the New Romantics and the Eurythmics!" What? When they were in the womb or something? More like Play School and Rentaghost! What a load of old bollocks really! I don't mind people talking about music or dissecting someone's influences, but only if they talk sense, not out of their backsides and like some pretentious twaddle talking wine writer discussing the latest Cabernet Sauvignon from Bulgaria!

In your dream BBCer! Male based groups are generally more popular because they turn out better choons...ask RG (our resident feminista) what her idea of "rock" is...it won't be some wimmin desperately trying to support the weight of a guitar on their spindly little shoulders!

The list should be done away with. Last year's list correctly predicted the big sensations so this one is probably correct too but this year's list-toppers are being given a ridiculously high profile/ max publicity.
It's probably tantamount to being an X-Factor winner - success guaranteed because no one else will get a look in now.
That little kinky boots lady might be brilliant but I am sick of her already and I find myself doing my best to avoid listening to her. Difficult because the BBC put her on every show.

So we are all in agreement then...wimmin generally can't rock the fuck out in the same way that men can. Excellent! AH

"The Thrush Puppies", "Pussycat Trash", "Voodoo Queens" and a few other wimmin bands rocked...but they were the exception rather than the rule.
Honourable mentions for "Bratmobile" and "The Trash Women"
