A little cooler here in Essex today, thank goodness. Sunday and Monday had me believing I was taking part in a Tennessee Williams play, so hot and humid it was.
I really can't stand hot weather. I mean, how does anybody cope with relentless heat for weeks on end like they do in southern Europe or the Middle East? 20 deg. or thereabouts is sufficient for anybody, surely?

And all the repressed homosexual alcoholics, frustrated wives, fat patriarchs and no-neck monsters running about the place.
I slept in here (the computer room) on Monday, after trying for a couple of hours in the bedroom; it seems so much cooler in here.
Aubrey the cat complains when it's too hot ; he also complains when it's not hot enough. From his point of view, it's not too much to ask for, is it? A temperature that's just right?.
Me, I'm consistent. I've never liked hot weather. I always walk on the shady side of the road if there is one, and if it's like it was on Sunday I close the curtains and pretend it's not happening.

Now our old cat was completely different. If it was a boiling hot day she'd make straight for our south-west facing lean-to (calling it a conservatory is asking a bit too much) which reaches inferno temperatures in mid summer. She would bask in full sun all afternoon.
