Come on, everyone who does yoga!
Balancing on one leg, especially when one has to do clever things with the other leg and a spare arm, is one of those exercices I dread. The instructor's tips seem to make things worse.

Come on, everyone who does yoga! Balancing on one leg, especially when one has to do clever things with the other leg and a spare arm, is one of those exercices I dread. The instructor's tips seem to make things worse. The tree? The key to the tree is foot-to-floor floor-to-foot, and remember that trees sway in the wind but they do not all over if their roots are strong. I'm brilliant at the tree. There's another one, like the tree, but instead of folding the non-standing foot into the standing lotus, you wrap it round the standing leg - the eagle I think it's called. I can do that too. Last week at yoga we did this position where you kneel down and then bend back your legs from the knee so your feet touch your bum. I can't do that AT ALL. How can you bend back your legs from kneeling? Impossible. Utterly impossible.

I'm all over the place when our yoga lady tells us to stand on one leg. Even worse when I have to close my eyes. I don't practice enough though. In fact I don't practice. And I'm going to have to miss tomorrow's session.

We do all kinds of strange things on one leg - the tree, the eagle and now something that involves getting into a T position with the standing leg as a pivot.
The instructor spends hours getting us to "root" our foot and use the core/tail tuck to brace, but I still can't balance on my right foot. The left is better. I feel such a fool when I wobble out after barely a second. I'm better keeping my leg and spine soft, butthen it is difficult to do much.
But yes, Everso, I must practice more !
I'm sory you'll miss your class - family emergency, I guess.

A new baby around the place is a good excuse.
(Oh bugger - sorry Ev - just read the addition thread.)

My trouble is that I have quite weak ankles, which doesn't help. I was out for a walk this afternoon, when I got back from Romford, and ricked my ankle quite badly. I thought I'd sprained it for a few minutes. I wouldn't mind, but I was wearing trainers, not white stilettoes. It's still sore, but I can walk on it.

It never rains but it pours, eh?
I hope the ankle is nothing serious.

I'm hobbling around like Chester Goode in "Gunsmoke" (older board members might remember him)

I'm hobbling around like Chester Goode in "Gunsmoke" (older board members might remember him) "Yes, Mister Dillon." Dennis Weaver. Great actor, great series. One of his best pics, and Spielberg's best, is Duel.

I can't believe how young he looks. When I watched this as a kid I thought he was quite old!
