From 1976...Play For Today...written by Mike Leigh starring Roger Sloman and Alison Steadman. In its entirety too and absolutely hilarious for those of you whom don't remember it. Keith and Candice-Marie Pratt attempting to enjoy a relaxing camping holiday in Dorset, but whose quiet is constantly interrupted. Superb, extremely funny (I warn you Sloman as Keith is hilarious as is Steadman -Abigail's Party, as his wife). Please please watch...it is here on You Tube in its entirety and will be greatly appreciated by all those whom remember those heady camping holidays (which were quite popular) in the mid seventies. Utter genius.

Chris, I remember this when it was first aired. Absolutely gorgeous. She's one of my favourites and so versatile - from Mrs. Bennet in Pride and Prejudice to Gavin and Stacey to Nuts in May.
She has the character of Candice Marie off to a tee, complete with the R speech impediment. Excellent stuff!

Alison Steadman is wonderful everso. I watched Abigail's Party too the other night. But when Nuts In May was first broadcast I was only 9...so didn't see it. What have I missed? A gem which has been waiting for 35 years now. Never laughed so much at anything. Truly.

Back in the 70s there were some excellent t.v. plays. Abigail's Party Mr. E. and I watched (it seems like yesterday), cringing. What a character. I remember some others from that time, Blue Remembered Hills by Stephen Potter, and Bar Mitzvah Boy and The Knowledge, by Jack Rosenthal. All great stuff.

Mike Leigh & Alison Steadman should be national treasures. I hope they are.

Leigh doesn't seem to have much sympathy for his characters, though.
