It's Thanksgiving in the US and I found this list of 20 recipes for leftover turkey. They are more unusual than soup and sandwiches, & I like the sound of some of the stuffing and mashed potato recipes. Might be handy to peruse in time for Christmas? www.nytimes.com/2011/11/20/magazine/rethinking-thanksgiving-leftovers.html?_r=1&ref=thanksgivingdayCranberry Negronis Mix equal parts gin, Campari, vermouth and cranberry sauce in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain. Garnish: Orange or lemon peel.

But I'm hosting Mrs YI (you remember) and the offspring, and I rashly told Laura that she could choose the main course. Welsh lamb, the vixen. Not that I have anything against Welsh lamb, but my fetish is cold turkey with pickled beetroot. I'm a simple soul (you remember). It'll be the first banquet using my new kitchen, which is being installed by Craftsman Keith even as I type. (Ev: I haven't forgotten the put-the-Mail-boot-in scenario, but it'll have to wait until January now.) After reading the user guide, I can't wait to use the induction hob (no gas here). Sounds magic.

Thatcher got the boot on Thanksgiving Day, 1990.
And they say there is no God. It's just a shame it wasn't 1979.
