I now have a functioning kitchen again, though it's not finished. Still struggling with the insurance company (largely incompetence, not malice).
Ennnnnnnyywaaaaay, I got an induction hob (no gas here). Absolutely wonderful. Instant heat, fingertip controls, good to look at, low-maintenance, easy to keep clean. Just what one yearns for in a woman hob. And no gas.
Really. It's even better than gas. Electrolux it is. Love it.
