I KNEW Ash would win. He's been consistently good and Michel Roux Jr. and Greg Wallace were pretty obvious as to who they favoured.
Anybody else watch it? I was rather ashamed tonight. I'd just eaten a huge dinner and waddled to the sofa to relax, when I found my mouth watering watching the culinary delights of the three finalists! How could my stomach have been full to bursting yet wanting more?
Tsk! I feel vair fat tonight.

Jack is a devoted Masterchief fan. I quite like the series and especially enjoy watching Monica who must be there as some kind of nerve test; anyone who can survive her watching them cook could cope with any kitchen. She makes Gordon Ramsay look like Sister Wendy.

She makes Gordon Ramsay look like Sister Wendy. Doesn't she just? Obviously, the programme is edited and cut, and I suspect some of it is manufactured (i.e. Monica is told to be a dragon) but it is enjoyable. Not too many of them said "It's my passion" in this series. That really gets on my nerves, "passion" being the new black.

Scores: 473 "In it to win it." 392 "I haven't shown what I can do yet." 1068 "I'm over the moon to be here at this level." 793 "I absolutely must show what I can do next time." 2832 "All I want to do is cook." 847 "I want to give 210%" Missed the final. I thought the little platinum blonde would win. All the comments about presentation are drivel. When M Junior likes the presentation, you can guarantee it's a tiny morsel of devilled dingoe's kidney with a skinless pea on top, some carefully spilt dayglo paint, a charred starling's egg on a truffle shaving, and a poached cockle turd, all stuck to the plate with some glue à la Moronne. And yet I like the programme.

And yet I like the programme. It's all a bit precious, and you can bet that in 5 years time there will be a new fashion for presenting food. I watched the Master Class this evening and could only stare in wonderment at the chicken boiled in a pig's bladder.

Monica is my girl crush. It used to be Claudia Winkleman. I'm still a little keen.

This is what I like about being a woman. You can have girl crushes without having to take it further, knowing that it will, at the same time, interest the men. I'm still half in love with Lady Mary. Alpha will be lurking, I don't doubt.

Yes they were, Sesley. Steve reminded me of a grown-up version of my nephew, so I would have liked him to win. Both Steve and Claire have glittering careers ahead of them I'm sure.

no! I love when someone does something harmless like slices a carrot without peeling it and she stares sternly at the carrot, then stares in disbelief and wonderment at the chef, then gives a look of 'well now I've seen EVERYthing' and meanwhile Greg just stares at her and copies her face. Michel would not be pleased if I served him that carrot.

Monica worries too much about what food Michel might turn up his nose at.
