Is it ever going to end? Levesen has interviewed more celebs and media luvvies than Parkinson in the last three months! I'm sure half those interviewed have been grateful of the publicity. I'm certainly not going to lose any sleep over wether Jude Law's privacy has been violated or not.
And what pray will the outcome be?
I very much doubt anything much will change.
Dull beyond words.

It's making News International and The Express etc look bad, so it's all to the good, really.
It's not just Jude Law, either.

I've been regretting that I haven't been able to watch it. The little bits I saw seemed very exciting. The celebrity witnesses mean that we get great animation instead of boring old monotone rubbish, and the man in the suit asking the questions seems very able for them all. I think it will make a great film-for-TV.

I'm well into Leveson. I had to read whole days worth of evidence from it for stuff we were doing in the media when Margaret Watson gave her evidence (remember her? Murdered daughter?)
Whether they'll change anything at the end, who knows. But some journalists should definitely be in the jail.

I don't think there's any need to change the law. Just apply the ones that we already have.

It's interesting stuff!! It may be particularly related to the UK but I reckon it's a commentary on international standards. No but their story is horrible. quote: The Watsons are now campaigning to have the law changed to make it an offence to defame the deceased.
Mrs Watson said the Scottish government was consulting on the proposal and she urged the UK government to do the same for England and Wales.
Currently the law does not protect the reputations of the dead, who cannot be defamed. Interesting if that came about. Mrs Watson was also critical of the Press Complaints Commission which she said "wasn't interested in what we had to say". She called for it to be axed and and for it to be replaced by an independent body or tribunal. That might have to happen. I'm not sure how you go about jailing people for working in a bad system. It's a bit like the bankers & the bail-out -- you can pick out one or two offenders, perhaps, but ultimately the entire system allowed for - even encouraged - the skewed ethics. ?
