Max Bygraves has been diagnosed with Alzheimers. His daughter has sent out a request to his home county, and beyond, I suppose. She says: "Max faces Alzheimer's with courage and good humour. "One of his great pleasures is receiving postcards and I wonder if you have time to send him a little message. "We take a daily walk to the letter box and I am sure receiving your cards would be a lift for him. "I know Max would want me to send you his love and all the best." She gives the address as: Max Bygraves c/o 2120 Fernlea Close Gracemere Hope Island 4212 Qld Australia --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think this would be a sweet thing to do. I wonder what she has let herself in for? Will people reply in their thousands, swamping the family and spoiling a nice little stroll to the post box? Or will people shrug and say ''who''? Any Stubbers going to send one? Please don't reply if you are going to be unfluffy about Max Bygraves. This is a FLUFFY thread for FLUFFY people. Sending a postcard would be like sending a ...

No, I won't send Max a postcard but it has jogged my conscience to get in touch with some elderly members of my family.

How's Archie? I wonder if he's perfected his Keanu Reeves act yet.

Ahh, Keanu Reeves. Lovely to look at. Probably delightful to know. But his finest hour was Bill and Ted. Max Bygraves. I might just send him a card. His wife, Blossom (real name Gladys), and her sister, Barbara, were friends of my old Auntie. They went to school together. I just phoned my auntie and she definitely wants me to send a card or letter on her behalf. She has many memories of her youth (a great memory considering she's 88). She even has an old photograph of a school play and Max's wife was in it.

I never saw that one. Thank you! I love it. It is one of the best sketches that the Two Ronnies/ Mitchell & Webb/ Morecambe & Wise never wrote!

Saint Everso, you mean. The Blessed Everso was inspired by a vision of Saint Trubs. As was prophesied in the Book of Patrick. Yeah and Weyland is His Prophet, praise be upon me.You wish. I went to see my Auntie today and she'd been busy recording what she wants to say to Max on a dictaphone that Mr. E. gave her (she's blind, so can't write lists). I now have to compose not a postcard but a letter. I hope he damn well reads it.

Why not send him the tape, so he can listen to it?

The dictaphone has a very small cassette and he'd only be able to hear it if he had a dictaphone as well. In any case, she only recorded a few sentences and I'm supposed to compose the letter. I still haven't done it yet. I've had my brother, his wife and two boys up this weekend. They went back earlier today and now we have Beth and Dan for a sleepover. (Mr. E. is reading them a Mr. Men book as I type this). I'm extremely tired as I seem to have been cooking and washing up all weekend!

My biological father delivered newspapers to Max Bygraves in Blackpool. Apparently he once chased my dad along the street after my dad tore his paper and wrote on the front 'big mouth'.
