Mum has been ill. Have been looking after her for a while. She picked up at the weekend but became a little concerned that a runaway murder suspect might just nip by for a quick cuppa and some murderous mayhem. I tried to calm her down explaining that the chances of Allen turning up in a quiet little village in Lincolnshire were remote. 'What if he's a master of disguise?' she worriedly mused.

'Well, if that's the case then I could be James Allen' I told her. A look of horror was drawn across her face as she reached for her walking stick to try and fend me off from coming any closer.

Oh dear....I think she's going a bit loopy in her old age.

Someone on the Fall's messageboard is a bus driver around Whitby. He had that James Allen on his bus last week, between Whitby and Scarborough and for 3-4 minutes with no one else. From Scarborough, Allen went to Leeds, where he was picked up: you can tell your mother that she's ok.

Did he know who it was at the time? If so, it must have been a pretty uncomfortable few minutes.

It was the day before the bloke's picture etc had been released.

The police had tracked him to a cafe, and then to a bus stop, waiting for the 12 o'clock bus; the Fall forum bloke drove that bus.
