with the nurse at our doctor's surgery. A few weeks ago, my sister-in-law (Mr. E's sister) had a mild heart attack. She's only 55 and has high blood pressure. I booked an appointment for Mr. E. to go and get his b.p. read and he came back with stars in his eyes. Apparently, according to him she was laughing at his jokes - even the crummy one about how he got his blood colesterol tested at Boots and didn't realise you didn't have to take off your clothes. I've heard that joke a thousand times. However, his b.p. was very high and he has to go and get a blood test and go back next week for some sort of ECG and a kind of MOT (let's hope they need to check his prostate ;D) Thank goodness, though, that I insisted he went for a check-up - even if he has fallen in love.

His unfaithfulness leaves you free to pursue Alpha I suppose; every cloud has a silver lining.

Alpha, I would run but I have a bone in my leg today and it's hurting like hell. That's what comes of pushing 2-year-old twins in a double buggy into town.

Just out of interest, do you just insert your bone in on buggy-pushing days, and where do you store it in between? A jolly useful trick if it keeps hurting though

Mother Sparrow sometimes used to complain in a husky voice "I've got a throat this morning". Yesterday I heard a bluetit that sounded really rusty so perhaps he had one too.

I've never heard that saying before in my entire puff. What on earth does it mean? What does entire puff mean? In my entire life. In all the breathes I have taken on this cold earth I have never heard this phrase before. Stop dilly-dallying and explain it.

Well, having a bone in your leg means you have a pain in your leg - meaning that if you didn't have a bone in your leg it wouldn't be painful. Oh, don't ask! Maybe it's a southern saying.

Having a bone in your leg, as far as I've always known it, means offering something as an excuse that is no excuse at all and suggesting you should never have been asked. "Sorry, I can't get to that anti-immigrant demonstration - there's a bone in my leg" = "You know I detest your xenophobia so don't put me on the spot in front of your BNP mates"

It's an old saying but a lad I used to work with used to say it meaning he had a pain and I'd got accustomed to using it in that context.
