They played this on the radio at the weekend and we both remembered it well from our early teenage years (it was a hit in 1963). This was even before Dusty Springfield went solo. She was plain Mary O'Brien when she sang with The Springfields.
As a point of interest, I had a skirt just like the one Dusty is wearing except mine was in green wool - and I didn't have any boobs to make it look interesting.
The hair is a work of art - at 13 I would have given my right arm for my hair to look like that. Except that without a right arm I wouldn't have been able to do the back-combing necessary to build it into that shape.

S'funny you should mention feeling old - 'cos we were talking along those lines hearing the voiceover on "The Brits" banging on about The Pet Shop Boys kicking off in 1985!!! Good little medley they put on tonight!
..........and if I were to admit something really embarrassing - As a three or four year old, my party piece was "Your Long Haired Lover from Liverpool" - and you can bet I was a darn site cuter than chubby Jimmy Osmond!

Well remember I was very young-I`m not sure they even topped the bill-but above Kenny Lynch-I think that was another show=It was around the time of `Love me do`
I was only 9 ffs-I was much more impressed having a chat to Edgar Broughton or seeing Elkie Brookes boobs a bit later TBH

What was it about her boobs? I remember being fascinated with them too.

For some reason Elkie Brooks LP's in cassette form were always produced on the cheapest cassettes possible. The tape would stretch and she'd either speed up like Pinky or Perky or slow right down. I once borrowed a friends cassette to record off - and it did exactly the same as mine!
In 1987 I went to see the original "Solid Silver Sixties Show" in Gloucester It was it's first outing and it had The Searchers, Gerry and the Pacemakers and Peter Sarstedt. Sarstedt made me and my brother cry when he did "Where did you go to", our girlfriends were unimpressed - phillistines.
Freddie and the Dreamers took the place of the Searchers later on. My Mum and Step Dad went to see a similar show where they appeared last year.

I never saw the Beatles live. I did see The Rolling Stones though in 1964. We were 7 rows back and I couldn't tell you one song that they sang as the whole audience was screaming. I still have the ticket stubs somewhere in my attic.
I saw the Kinks live in 1965 - 2nd row from the front this time. My throat is still raw from screaming and crying.
I think I may have mentioned before that I should have married Ray Davies.
