Just so long as it's spelt right ;D btw, Tolkien learnt Finnish in order to read the Kalevela - a Finnish epic story - and sooooooo boring (where's the snoozing smiley). He based his high elf language on Finnish So he reckoned on no one having read the Finnish version, tweaked the odd name here otr there, and just copied it all out in English. I see. Sorry, no. The Kalevela was another one of those wartime buggerations they seem to do a lot of here. I think this one was to do with Russkies as well Unless perhaps the orcs were the Russians?

Tolkein's trash. Let's all just admit it. Alice in Wonderland was much better. OMG - we are as one. I love Alice!

DOUBLE JINX I got a big bumper copy of In Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass combined the year we went to Berneray on holiday (was about 9 or 10 maybe?) I still have it, but the cover is off. I've read it SO many times.

All weird things were considered to be ''Russians'' pre 1988. LotR, Animal Farm, Roulette, you name it.

I was given a copy of AIW when I was a little girl and I've read it lots of times. When my daughter was old enough I forced her to listen to me reading it, also Through the Looking Glass (although I prefer AIW) and fortunately she liked it too.
Was it the first "I woke up and it was all a dream" story?

Never read AiW or Through the Looking Glass but I have watched many film versions of them. Not found one I particularly like among them

I mean it would turn out I didn't like the acting, or that they messed about with bits of the story, things like that

Well, I've watched 98 of these films, although I can't say I enjoyed them all. But there we are, I don't get out much!
I tried to read Tolkien and couldn't get anywhere with it, and I like fantasy. However I was able to watch the films.
As to annoying persons asking stupid questions at important points in a film (or television programme) I know all about that. You know who you are!!!

I've watched 51 of 'em. It's not a very good list is it? Most of them were crap "summer blockbusters" or whatever they call themselves
Nothing wrong with the LOTR Movie Trilogy either, decent movies.

That beest the point of the list, I think. If you have watched 85 or more you have no life.

I think it's just rubbish list, it's only real saving grace is the original Star Wars trilogy (obviously).
