Well, thank god someone told me I was wrong. Betty, I shall take your advice. Actually, I've just got back from having a blood test for my cholesterol - I shall inform the board of the results in due course. Aw! Have you had to starve yourself? That's what a friend had to do. Yes. I had my dinner at 7 pm last night and had nothing more, except water, until 9 am this morning. But I don't usually eat after my dinner in the evening (except for the occasional chocolate or piece or toast or biscuit or piece of cake) Mr. E. had his cholesterol tested recently and had to wait an hour, so I got there 15 minutes before the department was due to open only to find that abut 15 other people had had the same idea! I still had to wait half an hour. Grrrrr.

why chocolate, what about pie and cake shops :-[and the burger joints and the kfc's they make people fat too! Oooh no! That would never do! It's the KFC's and the Dominoes and the Subways of the world who are going to bust this country out of recession! After they've busted a few belts and elastic on the way of course! - All with Gordon Brown's blessing! Never mind Woolworths, never mind LDV Vans, never mind proper manufacturing jobs - we're a gonna EAT our way out of this crises! Ohhhhh!!! Yes!

Yes!
We all need to take out loans to buy mountains of fish & chips, donner kebabs, pizzas and deep fried Mars bars.
(Do we have a "quick, pass me a bucket" smiley?)

Does anyone still make Chocolate Cigarettes?
I remember buying some at school once, and I casually put the packet on the dining table and the duty teacher lifted it on the way past thinking it was real! 'Cos they looked a little like Gauloises!

I'd be surprised if they do still make them. I remember them though. They had thin white paper round them and the chocolate was disgusting.

It seems unbelievable now that we were given 'kiddie' cigarettes to practice smoking with, doesn't it?
I vaguely remember chocolate ones, but I definitely remember white sugary ones with red tips.
And I remember sitting pretending to smoke alongside my Dad who was smoking.

If you have a quick google they are still out there.! As for the Booze thing! Hot on the heels of the Scottish report. England's looking into it too! The government's top medical adviser has drawn up plans for a minimum price for alcohol which would double the cost of some drinks in England.
Under the proposal from Sir Liam Donaldson, it has been reported that no drinks could be sold for less than 50 pence per unit of alcohol they contain.
It would mean most bottles of wine could not be sold for less than £4.50. Makes me bloody angry really. We are firmly in the £3 a bottle camp. Even the wine writer Malcolm Gluck is a proponent that you can buy perfectly decent wine for under a fiver. Sure - there's crap out there, but it doesn't take long to sort the wheat from the chaff. It isn't about health, it's about taxation! They're losing it on Tobacco now, and they want to make up the difference! As David Mitchell was saying on Question Time - How about realistically taxing ALL the things that do the damage to help these shortfalls - He suggested airtravel - how about cars for instance!? - As they were suggesting last year? Why not put VAT on Aeroplane fuel ffs! Why should the airlines get off Scott free just because they can't be bothered to be flexible enough to move with the flow of the market! Ditto Car manufacturers - they have to be subsidised because they couldn't be bothered to adjust their business plans to match demand! They just made cars for the hell of it - knowing that because the cost of motoring is so bloody cheap that there would never be a slow down! That's just sheer arrogance really, The one reason why the Japanese were so efficient in producing cars in the 1970's is because everything was done at the last minute - so they could quickly react to market trends - everything was budgeted and tight. Now in recent years even they have got greedy which is why they've had trouble in the turndown too. Going for a lie down now.

the reason why people are overweight is because they don't eat a varied diet in moderation and don't burn the calories off.
