I've got my eye on a Pashley bike in Glasgow. So I've had a look at the rail details, wondering how much etc. I am astounded to find that I can get a Cheap Day Return for £15 up there. Astounded because it takes about the same time to get there as it does to London - two and a half hours, but to go to London for the day (I have a railcard) means paying out for a £50 odd Saver Return!!! As "Cheap Day Returns" aren't available for that journey! Talk about taking the piss! advantage!

My! You're brave! Just coffee then. You're scaring me a bit. And I might have a meeting that day.

Looks like you might be safe - I've had a chat with the owner and the poor thing's a bit more of a wreck than first it seemed. Had it's hub gear replaced with a dérailleur for goodness sake!
Still thinking about it.
Never mind - as it's only £15 return - might make a day of it sometime!

Still thinking about it. Never mind - as it's only £15 return - might make a day of it sometime! Every meet that has been half-heartedly arranged has come to nothing. For a while it was agreed that all who could make it would go to visit Mimi when she was next in London, but then on the Harbour in the retirement thread she's saying her travelling days are over. There was half a plan for a meet in Brighton which seemed a bit of a goer for a while, but then nobody did anything about it. I'm trying to get my work to pay for me to go to a conference in London later this year; no joy so far. I know that Everso will come (she's said so) and I'm hoping Luc and Rjpageuk. But I don't know if you live near enough to London for a night out, and I'm not sure where everyone else lives. So a meet in Glasgow might be as good an idea as anyway, only Everso won't come up, and Luc will have no money. He'll have to sleep on SWL's couch. (Can't have young handsome men in my house; I have teenage daughters.) Or maybe we could all have a pre-Christmas weekend in Dublin. Do you think Trubs has got a big house?

Perhaps everyone should all come to mine! I'm neither halfway up nor halfway down! ;D Astounded because it takes about the same time to get there as it does to London - two and a half hours, but to go to London for the day (I have a railcard) means paying out for a £50 odd Saver Return!!! I run the West wing as a B&B and the spare Summerhouse is on loan to the local church as a hostel for down-and-outs. But you're all barred. Why would you want to come to Dublin in December anyway? It's horrible then.

Can't we all go on a pre-Christmas jaunt to Prague with Everso? - it looked fun.

Thinking about it, Holyhead would suit me very well...except it's a dump..although friends went last year and found a nice hotel..they SAID! Look, even their official 'Come to Holyhead' site can't find a better picture than this to put up. www.holyhead.org/I know! Why don't we all surprise Patrick by pretending we're not going to meet up and then arriving at his house for dinner next Tuesday. Eric has his address somewhere, I'm sure... Stop invading my posts, Patrick.

Holyhead looks like a pointless dump . . and in Wales I think.
I think not.
Prague is the most beautiful city I know after Edinburgh, but I've been there. I want to go somewhere different but not Holyhead.
