I think it's official! Not that the Argos catalogue is necessarily the fashionista magazine of choice, but after a long time noticing the slow appearance of black televisions, black video and DVD recorders and the odd black hifi, now that the latest Argos catalogue is full of them, it's obviously what we've got to get used to for the next few years - and to muck up the aesthetics of our Audio/Video combinations the next time one has to be replaced.
Top marks go to Sony that has a range of TV's in some lovely metallic colours, but the rest have just opted for anything you like so long as it's.............
Black.
Why on earth can't they build options in any colour and let the most popular win out, that's what I'd like to know.

So those of us who buy our electronics a bit at a time will have the popular silver of recent years mixed with the new Silver (Black)! I have a silver washing machine, fridge and cooker... my freezer is white as I haven't changed it. I only buy new when the old is beyond repair as a rule so my freezer remains a solitary item in my otherwise matching kitchen. BTW I have a silver TV & DVD Player but still sport an old black VCR... which is now modern (hurray) if Argos is anything to go by.

When Best Beloved and I moved in together we both had 14" portables, but we used hers as it was remote control. Then friend of mine who owned a shop in town - and lived in a massive flat above - told me that he'd picked up a telly from the charity shop next door - It was their policy not to accept electrical items for H & S reasons. So they got put out the back.
It was a black one and we had about two years use from it before the tube went! Then BB came into some money so we bought a new (and silver) TV and DVD video.

My 42" plasma TV is black...silver edging around screens on TV's is distracting.

My 42" plasma TV is black...silver edging around screens on TV's is distracting. AH Size isn't everything! ;D You are right though - we have a halogen uplighter - well away from the television - but you do have to turn it down to take away that "glare" sometimes. I can't get over these plasmas that have plastic wood effect round the outside - reminiscent of when car manufacturers want to make their dull saloon car "classy"! One for the Allegro Vandan Plas owners (or modern equivalent) I reckon!
