I love it! She has such a lovely unaffected voice. No groaning, no shrieking, no glottal stops. Wonderful stuff. She's a well padded girl with a pretty face too. You said it very well, Ev. Caroline Esmerelda van der Leeuw. I'm in love.

Just heard a Bob Dylan track opening Word of Mouth, and was startled to notice that I then couldn't get Yingtong yiddle i po out of my head for a while. So that's where he got his style from, I thought.
Then they played another track, which was great -- if only Bob had kept his trap shut. The guitar work was brilliant -- unmistakably Mark Knopfler. And indeed I have heard that Dire Straits did back Bob at times, a long time ago. But he wasted the opportunity, and learned nothing.
Summary: As overrated as Lennon & co.

I was never keen on Bob Dylan, even in the sixties. However, I did like his songs when other people sang them. I especially liked Tambourine Man by The Byrds. The Ying-Tong Song is up there with the greats, though.

I didn't even know it was one of Bob's. I once went into a record shop in Greenwich Village and asked for something by The Flying Burrito Brothers, which I couldn't find any trace of in their alphabetic system. The GV dude said "Try The Byrds or Gram Parsons." That worked fine. And that's how they arrange things in Greenwich Village. Sheesh.

The Flying Burrito Brothers in their prime. Sneaky Pete "God" Kleinow on the pedal-steel guitar. He's the one on the right, sitting. (I have a pedal-steel, but I haven't quite mastered it yet, if you'll pardon the understatement.)

I just downloaded two versions of Jai Ho!. The ultra-subtle Pussycat Dolls ("English"), and the soundtrack's A.R. Rahman (Hindi). Great song. Emotive. Atmospheric. Both versions very good, in different ways. But the Hindi version makes me ravenous. I want a lamb vindaloo right now. Now! Chicken will do, but it has to be RIGHT NOW! Slumdog Millionaire. One of the best films ever made. Beautiful British film.

(even if I do say so myself)

I'm going up to the pub for roast beef, etc., in an hour or two. I wouldn't touch what they call curry again. Once bitten. I was forced to play this again to cheer myself up. Never fails. Sneaky Pete Kleinow on pedal-steel -- the very pinnacle of Western Civilisation. He's a God in human form.
