I go through types of name that feel appropriate every so often and I've been feeling even more cynical than usual of late so I had good old-fashioned self-deprecating dimissive words in the back of my mind when I joined one board thinking of Scrooge's Bah! Humbug! and changed whatever I was on the Exco & Sandy Show to suggest an old curtain twitching biddy called Agnes Piddle and both were in my mind when I joined up here. I couldn't think of anything memorable and I didn't know the board enough for something to suggest itself so I thought Ah Piffle and signed up as that pending future inspiration.

(Jean & Patrick . . . maybe you two can sit this one out . . . unless . . ) No, it's my real name - I am so completely guileless that I never even think of being anyone else. (Well occasionally perhaps. But not often.)

I considered using that at one time except that there was one already. I long ago had that embarrassing situation of asking my girlfriend's flatmate's Who's Boris and getting the answer "Umm, you are" as in:

I thought I called you Scruffy Trubbles! I'm all embarrassed now. I'm waiting for the day you break away from it and hurl it back in my face in a fit of pique! I won't mind, honest <sniff> <blowwwww> hehee. No, it was Fluffy Trubbles, I remember objecting to the fluffy bit - so you changed it to scruffy but by then scruffy only meant one thing to me. A yorkshire terrier.

I joined the BBC Radio Four Today board quite a few years ago as Mrs. Angry of Chelmsford. Then something happened with the board (can't remember what) and I had to re-register. I'd got fed up with my name so decided to change it to Everso (as in everso angry or everso happy etc.). I always use that name now on whichever board I join, so if people I "talk" to on other boards are registered there they'll know it's me.
Frankly I can't be arsed making up other names and I know I'd never remember which name I was under on each board!

I joined the BBC Radio Four Today board quite a few years ago as Mrs. Angry of Chelmsford. I'd considered outing you already - but thought that might be rude so deleted it! Shocking isn't it! How time flies! I had my first venture there (Today) in about 2000/01 - on a borrowed laptop, a little later it became permanent It might have been around then, then! So that's you and Moto and any other ex-today-ers from then. Trubs from 2004 or 5 or so, Riot must have come along about then too! If we lived in the same town we'd all be dinner partying by now! Phew! There's a thought!

I was on the BBC in 2000 I think, during a Java course as Saiaton and then dropped out for five years or more. Completely invented name that came from a dream of 'barbarians' and kite-flying tricycle-riding ornamental frog-breeding civilisation with a penchant for Martial Arts some time in the remote past (sort of matriarchal Shogunate Japan with water and wind power) with hints at a link to 'Satan'. I never did write the story because describing the culture was far more interesting that the Savage Veltrasht's trek to Civilisation and failure to warn it of the danger his people posed.

I don't get the joke. I just think it funny you use one letter names. As I recall, you said it was because you couldn't be bothered to type out the full name when logging in, which I thought amusing/cute ;D
