It's a pathetic fad for very busy people.
Most of the people using it are not very busy.
Scream!

Anyone who's ANYone follows Stephen Fry's Twitterings. ...grr...
When he got stuck in a lift he twittered it to 20,000 people. What good did it do him? He was so busy twittering it that he forgot to experience it. And he had other people to talk to there, so he had no excuse, he could have got a good play out of that.
When I got stuck in a lift I had to bash and bang the doors to alert people to my dreadful situation. I had to actually shout 'halp' 'halp me' 'I am stuck in a lift' 'omg' etc. No one heard at first, I had to face the real prospect of running out of oxygen or the cables being severed. And I was all alone.
***TrubTwitter: I am remembering the time I got stuck in a lift. LOL!***

I actually got dressed early this morning. See Saturday morning thread.
Nothing prepares you for that "This lift has got stuck moment". I tend to be fairly un-phased if something catches fire that shouldn't but lifts and telephone boxes (No thanks to an early viewing of that wierd Spanish film! - Thank Zark for mobiles) are a different matter!

Lifts. Hmmmm. I have a kind of fear of being stuck in a lift. I find it impossible to use "outside" lifts - I saw "The Towering Inferno" you know.

I have only heard of Twitter through the news.
Sounds like something Housesparrow would be into ;D
I am not afraid of lifts but I have seen The Towering Inferno as well so know exactly what you mean. I love disaster films and this is one of my favourites.!!!
I know I'm sad!!!

If you have a mobile phone with you, surely that is enough? I don't understand things like Twitter and Facebook, but I can see them becoming the new protection from the embarrassement of approaching strangers directly when you'd need to go somewhere to have something to talk about together but you need something to talk about in order to go somewhere. (A personal gripe with somebody I'd love a walk in the park with, but also a 'success' with somebody who did turn out to be a really good friend through cyber-contacts).
PS Is that GLANT or GIANT?

Two of my favourites are in it: Steve McQueen and Fred Astaire (although he didn't dance ;D)

I opened a "Twit" a few weeks ago. Joined a couple of feeds - whatever they call them.
I really couldn't see the point, so I deleted the account.
What is the point? Anyone?

The point is to make your twitters appear on my Facebook page and ANNOY me. My friend Jeff 'twittered' the entire Inverness Caley football game at the weekend, blow by fegging blow. (Inverness Caley went down.) I was really hoping to read something a bit more interesting when I logged in on Sunday morning!

I joined Twitter but then deleted my account a short while afterwards. Don't ask me why, but I didn't feel comfortable there
