Does anyone here admit to ever reading The Lady? My dad used to buy it - not for my mum, for himself.
A proposed revamp of the magazine was being discussed on Radio 4 yesterday. Apparently the average age of readers is 75 and they want to attract younger people.
Out will go the cakes on doilies. This caused much panic, but breath again, Selsey, it is not the cakes that will disappear but the doilies.
Be honest, how many people do you know who use the things?

My Grandmother (years ago) took "The Lady". I remember reading through the classifieds and seeing "Nanny required for Television Presenter......." We worked out/reckoned at the time it had to be Sue Cooke - of Nationwide fame (then). It's a magazine of decency where even celebs can be anonymous!
I'd guess that "People's Friend" probably has a similar problem.
There's nought wrong with a good doily! (Not that I partake of course)

My Aunt always read The Lady...
No doilies? Tsk tsk, whatever next. People will be using paper napkins before we know it...

Doesn't it give instructions on tatting your own doily any more then?

My friend got a secretarial job at Buckingham Palace through an advert in The Lady.
