The ultimate "Bang your head against a brick wall out of boredom" of a thread:
I have a Malcolm-esque theory about this, I reckon that the fat globules in full cream milk absorb the tea and help to cool it down - it's thicker so has more "presence" in the cup. Also you can put more full cream milk in because of this soaking up mechanism.
Half or Fully skimmed milk acts purely like extra liquid - so if you were to pour the same amount of milk into two cups with the same amount of tea in each - the cup you pour semi skimmed milk in will overflow - but the other (Full Cream) won't because of the "fat absorption" thing,
People say I like a lot of milk in my tea - I don't I'm just putting enough in to make it drinkable enough!

Testing will be required to prove this mayhem of a theory. I will undertake to test it if someone else will too.

I thought this was going to be a thread about the rights and wrongs of putting the milk in first or last.
1. Sugar in cup 2. Tea in cup 3. Milk in cup 4. Stir like billy-o, walk out of kitchen holding cup and throwing spoon into sink as you pass.

Though I put them on a plate besides the teapot - I have to admit that it gets a bit mucky after a while!

(I keep the spoon in my cup, BTW, just in case it needs a secondary emergency strir). AH

Right - here's another version of my theory;
Pouring Full Cream Milk into a cup of tea is like lowering a small sponge into the cup. Yes, the water level will rise slightly but the sponge will soak a lot of it up. This is what I think the fat molecules in Full Fat Milk do - they absorb some of the water. Other milk doesn't have the same amount of fat - ergo it will just go into the cup as a liquid without absorbing what's already there. Also as any fat that is in there is thinner it doesn't absorb any of the heat either - which is why tea with semi-skimmed milk is so horrible and usually too hot,

Skimmed or semi-skimmed milk in tea is traveling down the road of barbarism. Full fat, full cream milk for the full tea experience. AH

If I might stir! - Ha! Geddit! - "Stir" (I'm a wag me!) some controversy into this; Why is it that (some) women like tea to be scalding? What is the point of a scalding cup of tea you can't drink for half an hour? Me? I like to drink my tea straight away thanks! That's what it's for!!!!

I find that tea does not quench the everso thirst unless it's consumed just a degree or so below boiling point. However, I've recently read that drinking very hot liquids can damage the osopho-thingey and could lead to cancer. I'm now trying to drink my tea a bit cooler.

I'm now trying to drink my tea a bit cooler. What, like wearing dark glasses and leaning casually against a wall as you drink it? ;D
