The Trek Franchise needs re-booting big time, the last several movies and the last two series (Voyager & Enterprise) were dire .
Look what they did with BSG, it was a camp, fun 80's cheese-fest, Ronald D Moore turned Neo-BSG into the grittiest, best produced, best character driven, slickest looking sci-fi series ever - bar none.

I was reading the Grauniad's review of it earlier - they're aiming a little at the teenagey audience - but there's supposedly plenty for the traditionalists. It could work out like the dire state of affairs that is the New Doctor Who of course - and I thought they'd have left it to rest a lot longer than they have done, but still JJ Abrams has a pretty good track record, so.........

I think Karl Urban is a weird choice for Dr McCoy, having seen him in "Chronicles of Riddick", "Doom" and as Eomer in LotR. I will watch it and see
