Just sitting here minding my own business and there was what seemed like a massive explosion and the whole house shook. Frightened the living daylights I can tell you!

3.7 on the scale - The epicentre was somewhere near Ulverston in the Cumbria - according a local Geologist!
I think I've calmed down now.

did the Earth move for you Patrick? I'm glad it wasn't worse! (Especially with a nuclear power station just down the road!) More shocking than scary as in a "What the hell was that" kind of way! There was another good example of the Londonification of the news service in that it took a good while for the news to filter through to the London News lot - yet the local radio had a Geologist on the phone in 15 minutes! If it had been in the South I expect all hell would have happened!

No. I feel about it the same way as I did when I came out of anaesthetic once. Powerless. It really does underline that this isn't necessarily our planet to do what we like with. We are just guests and we ought to act accordingly.

Ireland is not shaped like that. Unless the earthquake has reshaped us?
