Ahh. Poor little babe. That looks nasty. Hope she soon gets better.
The nappy looks hilarious though. Do you draw lots as to who gets to change it?

Didn't mean to cast doubts on his masculinity (although I dare say he's been 'seen to' anyway ).

Our poor wee thing went into the vets this morning. She started being sick last Thursday - and noticing that she'd also lost weight and suspecting her thyroid problem was beating her medication we took her into the vets on Friday. He noted the weightloss and suggested leaving off the medication because it can disturb the stomach lining sometimes, then reintroduce it gradually again. She had a blood test which showed everything to be normal. She rallied a little after her visit but then soon retired to a hidden corner of the room and stopped showing any interest in anything, Saturday morning she ate a tiny bit but was still being sick - about five times that day. We slept downstairs with her to keep an eye on her. Sunday morning she'd still had nothing to eat, was barely moving and still occasionally chucking up. So luckily the vets had an emergency surgery from ten to 12. (If only your doctor was as flexible!??) She was given an anti-biotic, an anti-inflammatory and another blood test to check on the kidneys etc - still nothing showing. She finally had a looooong drink not long after we got back - but just regressed once more. So this morning it was back to the vets again! Same chap as Friday who knows what a feisty thing she usually is - and immediately proposed to keep her in - give her a drip and do some x-rays. We await further news. It's a complete mystery. What with little concious sleep either we're a bit Zombiefied at the moment.

Ahhh. Hope your cat soon makes a complete recovery. We're a silly old bunch on here but you can't help your feelings when one of your flock isn't well.

Oh Patrick..... Hugs and kisses to your poor little lady. We went through something similar with one of ours a couple of years ago.He spent a week in hospital,on a drip, and would eat nothing.I was up and down to the vets with his favourite foods but with no luck. Then one afternoon when I arrived, the nurse came running out saying he's eaten a spoonful of pilchard! From that small start he made a full recovery. So fingers crossed.

Damn Sin, you're right. It's me that's not paying attention.
The thread was originally about Moto's cat, but now Patrick's cat is ill too.
Sorry.
Get well soon to all the cats.

It seems I've made a dreadful fool of myself (again.)
In my defence, I'm not a cat person! One cat seems very much the same to me.

Everywhere you go round the house there's a reminder! (When they're not there) Riot? I understand your feelings! I'm the same when animal-less. I'll repress the temptation to change your avatar to that of Cruella De Ville ;D ;D though. (JOKE!) Latest news? X-rays showed nothing. She responded well to the drip and brightened a little and is also being "fed" an anti-spasmodic something or other (Gaviscon type thing I supose). They still cannot work it out, and if this doesn't work, they may have to open her up and have a physical look inside. She's 17 though which is a worrying factor.

How did a cat come to be called Shelob? As I remember that was a very unpleasant giant spidery thing in Lord of the Rings.

Because those were the names we picked, that is how come No way were we keeping "Toots" and "Babe", which the previous owners had picked

Latest: Vet phoned this morning, as x-rays showed nothing they're going to keep up the observation and go for an op either today or tomorrow, for fear that there might be stomach tumors or something inside that didn't show up. We went into see her and she was very spaced, with a little blue sock on where the drip was going in. With a bit of handling and stroking in her usual spots though, we like to think we got a glimmer of recognition - especially as she eventually went from "big eyed scared" to relaxing a little and dropping off to sleep. Just had something to eat ourselves and we're torn between moping about at home or going shopping to try and take our minds off. Because if they do find something cancer like, then chances are it would be better to just 'let her go' there and then.
