Peculiar that is. I'm very fond of a certain series of books. The first one I read my Dad brought home one night - and then in the late eighties I picked up the two other books that had been republished at the time. The one copy that eluded me though was the first one in the series - that too had been republished in about 1987-9 but I scoured the bookshops for it back then, and eventually gave up. It was twenty years before some publisher had the forethought to republish it and I was able to finally read it! Here's the funny thing then. I've just seen the 1987 edition paperback on ebay and snapped it up! As I did, a wave of victory washed over me in a "Gotcha" kind of way! The useful thing is (I suppose) because the book has now been published again, the price of older editions has fallen - this was just £3.75 - no post costs. about £2 more than it cost new. One of the other books in the series I gather is very rare at the moment - I've seen one Greedy Bastard Antique Bookseller asking £175 for the 1987 paperback - there is one on ebay now with a "Buy it Now" of £45!!! (So I shall hang on to mine - just in case! ) Why do we do mad things like that eh? Thank goodness I'm not rich at the moment - cos also on ebay this evening I've looked at 3 Pashley Bikes, A Renault 4 and an Austin 1300GT! Could have been quite a night!
