is a tall thin person earning more than a fat short person in your work place? I am short, a bit over weight but not obese,my wages go on the time i have worked there and the hours i put in. so do small Chinese people earn less than tall Western people, because they are short? or because there as so many that they are just cheap to employ? www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,25495962-5005941,00.html

I have feeling that Chinese people are quite tall - taller than Japanese anyway and they can't really complain.
But I have heard that people with long legs are considered more attractive than people with short legs, which is really bad news for me. I'm an average height and weight under nine stone but.....
Well, you can guess the rest.

No, it's just that money goes further for tall, thin people cos they can't get their hands all the way to the bottom of their pockets ;D

Just one little thing I notice there - or rather where. Post hoc ergo propter hoc is never a reliable maxim. Australia. Australians are sports mad and competitive, not just in it for the fun. Nearly all the population lives in near coastal cities and spends its time swimming and surfing. They don't need conscious discrimination. The less athletic short and fat will pick up enough sense of inferiority from the culture not to push too hard, not to have the same certainty about themselves as the ones who feel that if they didn't win this time mate, they bloody well will next.
I'll bet that similar studies could show variations in success between any physical or other type in different cultures, starting that in the Southern US states, overweight is likely to correspond with success.

I once worked alongside a man (let us call him Graham) who was extremely tall and quite lean. When someone had to visit a potentially tricky customer our boss (middle height and a bit pudgy) who announce "This is one for Graham. He's tall enough!"
He was diplomatic (of course we all were!) but was probably less likely to be threatened.

I suppose there is something worrying in having to literally look up to people. It puts one in the position of a child perhaps. Maybe it has something to do with why women put so much more value on activities they associate as traditional to men than either sex does on women's. Unconscious physical intimidation leads to self-doubt and envy.

Tall, thin men are also better endowed "downstairs". So I'm reliably informed by someone who did an extensive study.

They meet in the middle but that's not the worst of it. They continue to his ears. (Well, more so the left ear).

I've just had the pleasure of meeting a man who is not very tall at all...but he is intelligent, humorous, highly successful in his career and remarkably attractive with it..
