I await ARF's verdict on this.
But farmers have not - in the past at least - been salespeople. The Milk Marketing Board was disbanded, I believe, because it was seen as a monopoly, but many farmers felt it lifted a great burden from them.

(Note the use of the dodgy tactic of adding extra pints to peoples doorsteps deliberately to try and get away with charging them extra at the end of the week!) I believe Unigate got a slap on the wrist for that.

Does this mean the recession is affecting dairy sales or that it's affecting farmers?
Just wondering because there has been a sudden rush here to sell real butter at half price or less. We are all going real butter mad. I feel a bit sick.
