Stacey Solomon from Dagenham to win.

Correct.
I said that weeks ago.
Not that I watch the show or have seen the competitors, mind you. She's just a talent.

So is it just Riot and me who watch this silly thing? I seriously do not like the fact that everything is now decided by public vote.
I actually had to read the News of the World today in an effort to find out what Daryl had done to make himself so unpopular. Unfortunately I seem to be about two weeks too late.

Danyl?
What did he do?

Ah yes - Danyl. I'm not sure what, despite the NOTW. Obviously something, because he has been described as the "most hated man in Britain." That, apparently, is what sent him down to the bottom two last week.
I shall have to do some more googling.

As things stand though, I think my vote lies with the last guy on last night. Is his name Olly? He was just incredible.

My research has taken me little further re the unfortunate Danyl, other that he is rumoured to have bullied contenstants at boot camp.

You can't leave us hanging like that! I'm intrigued and I don't even know the bastard (if that is what he is).

Well, there is something very odd going on in X Factor but it reinforces my theory that the British love the underdog. The public voted in a couple of inverted and out-of-tune loo brushes and the hated Danyl who sang really badly but stood with his tail between his legs being 'umble.
They voted off one of the best singers in favour of a spotty teenager who was so scared in finding himself in the bottom two that he couldn't talk let alone sing. I called the NSPCC: somebody had to.

That's one of the reasons why I don't watch it. Whenever the great British public has a chance to vote on these things, they invariably get rid of the best acts.

As I mentioned in another thread, democracy just doesn't do.

Did you read that poor Susan had another breakdown in New York? Still her album will probably make her so much money that she can retire if she needs to.
With Jedward out the way, the X Factor is getting 'interesting' (remembering that I do only watch it ironically). That Lloyd is probably the worst singer left in (although he's vairy vairy cute), but it's hard to see who the obvious winner is yet. My money's still on Stacy.

You can keep your Leona Lewis'es because they are just too perfect; Stacey has a really special quality , but I don't think she has yet developed it to its full potential so my money is on Joe to win.
Olly (whom I tentatively tipped earlier) hasn't lived up to his promise at all.

Word is that Joe is to win it.
Word is that Simon Cowell doesn't want another girl (after Leona and Alexandra), and Olly, as you say Housey, just isn't quite the mustard.
Word is that the song choice for the Christmas single has been made with Joe in mind.
(This is all according to 'Popbitch'.)

It's the Royal Variety performance this week, and the Radio Times points out that when the Queen first attended this in Blackpool in 1955, the line up included Arthur Askey, Morecambe and Wise, Jimmy Jewel and Ben Warris amd George Formby. The line up in Blackpool this week is mainly made up of Reality/Talent TV stars.

Lenny Henry, Marti Caine (remember her), Lena Cannelloni, All those Hughie Green and New Faces people.... I hate X factor as much as the next sane person but talent shows producing the the new big name are nothing new.

The talent programmes (in a way) are the equivalent to the music halls that the likes of M&W, Arthur etc worked their way up through. At least we still have Am Dram to cultivate the next acting generation - though the theatre schools can be an equally 'quick fix'.
