None at all. But I was in a hurry this morning (hoping for the Duruflé Requiem without an organ cipher) and I did not have time to explain my train of thought, which had its origin in this exchange between ev and Weyland: But we ladies have to wear make up and pluck our eyebrows and wax our legs and style our hair.... As far as I'm concerned you ladies can forget all that palaver, and I'd still love youse. I mean it. I've had many a discussion about this kind of thing with women, and men, and it tends to be the women who insist on all that time-and-money-consuming faffing on, not the men. which made me think of the many arguments I've had ever since the 1970s on the sort of stuff women feel obliged to do and why they do it, especially wearing crippling shoes (which ev didn't actually mention), and whether they are victims of false consciousness or not. And with all this in mind I happened upon this image, and actually they are probably quite comfortable; so they don't make any of the points I was considering, but there they were, and I just thought I would share them with you.
