Thank you chaps! I'm up rather late so it is just my birthday. Mr. E. is taking me up to London tomorrow for a day's airing and a nice meal at Clos Maggiore.
I'll report back tomorrow evening.

Happy birthday, toots, have a pic of a young Hooligan Rotterdam Feyenoord! Newcastle United beat them 4-0 at St James's Park in 1969. I was there. European Fairs Cup. They hammered Rangers in the same tournament, and went on to win it. That was the last trophy The Lads won. Thanks, Moto. Happy days.

Thank you so much everyone! I had a lovely birthday yesterday. We started off with a trip on the Thames from Tower Pier to Westminster Pier (only half an hour - we froze). Then we had a good old mooch around Westerminster Abbey - something I hadn't done since I was about 14. It hadn't changed much. Then we took a slow walk to Clos Maggiore in Covent Garden. Had a lovely meal there. While we were in Westminster, as we crossed a road, who should we almost bump into but Nick Clegg! He was actually walking!!! I didn't think MPs walked. We had to laugh, though. Neither me nor Mr. E. could remember his first name. "It's, it's um, Clegg, look! Clegg! Wossis first name?" "Dunno" It took us about 10 minutes before we remembered. Then, on our walk up Whitehall towards Trafalgar Square, we saw Boris Johnson - on his bike! I took a lovely photo of him, which I'll post tomorrow. However, a bit of bad news too. I've been so poorly today with a tummy upset. Not sure what caused it, but I have a feeling it was the sandwich I ate lunchtime from Tesco's Extra in Westminster. Man, I was so so sick today and I stayed in bed. I'm feeling a little bit more the thing now, but I have really felt my age today!

While we were in Westminster, as we crossed a road, who should we almost bump into but Nick Clegg! He was actually walking!!! Probably a hired double. I can hardly imagine Clegg could safely walk around anywhere these days except possibly Cameron's constituency outside of an armoured car. Certainly not his own. Get well soon, Ev.

Didn't get a Clegg photo - it was all over with so quickly. It was Mr. E. who spotted him "Look, er, um, Clegg, um, LOOK!" Me: "where where? Oh yes, Clegg" He had several minions running around after him (or so it looked like to me) Anyway, here's the photo of Boris. Actually, he'd just posed for a photo with a woman, but I was too embarrassed to ask him and just as I was about to ask him if I could take a photo he got on his bike.

Good job, Everso. And Lo, did not I warn you to be careful in London? Hm? It's a dreadfully dangerous place. Thank goodness you are home sweet home again.

Silly bike — no front mudguard and a toy one at the back. I'd love to see him in wet weather. He'd get covered in road muck spatters in no time, not to mention wet dog shit. Halfords don't sell bikes with mudguards. I asked them. The customers must be pretty gormless.

I was just about to when the bugger got on his bike. I was left with my camera in my hand and a pink face. I'll not forget that for a while. Mr. E. laughed at my discomfiture. He laughed like a drain in fact. I'm finding it hard to forgive Boris, frankly.
