www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-13460455A certain Adolf springs to mind. "A lot of our clients typically want their donor to be at least 180cm [5ft 11in] tall and have blue eyes......the beeb appear to have left the word 'blonde' out for fear of embarrassment perhaps. Athletic build, sophisticated, strong, intelligent, the 21st century master race, in a word, perfection. Am I alone in finding this unsettling and rather sad? "I love a blonde bombshell!"

The idea of choosing a sperm donor on the basis of physical attributes is depressing, and to attach importance to the kind of music he enjoys just deepens the feeling. It could be a man whom the mother would really hate if she got to know him, and her kid is to inherit half his genes.
Though that happens all the time in real life, I suppose; women realising that their partners are thugs and bullies after getting pregnant. I'm uncertain how far genetics are responsible for one's personality - I dare say no-one knows for sure.

Looking as he did, Hitler was not really someone who should have gone on so much about the Aryan ideal. Come to that, most of the Nazi high command were pretty dweebish.

It is rumoured he was gay Aubrey, which I'm sure you know of course. Not sure how true that is but the penchant for good looking young men dressed in leather does make one very suspicious.

Adolf's best mate . . . Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler

I heart Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In because watching it makes you feel drunk.
Also, it aired the CCTV tape of the time that Everso gave me and Riot a lift to the pub.

How about this then? A Toronto couple have revealed that they are raising their third child as ‘genderless’ in order to allow the baby to decide on its own gender.
Kathy Witterick and David Stocker, who already have two sons aged five and two, say four-month-old Storm should be allowed to decide his/her gender when he/she grows up.
Only the couple, their sons, a family friend and two midwives present at Storm’s birth know whether the baby is a boy or a girl, the Toronto Star reports. There is no ambiguity over the baby’s genitals.
They have faced criticism from family, friends and child psychologists who say that Storm is being treated as an experiment and his/her brothers are too young to be able to keep the secret.
After Storm’s birth, the couple sent an email to family and friends: “We’ve decided not to share Storm’s sex for now – a tribute to freedom and choice in place of limitation, a stand up to what the world could become in Storm’s lifetime (a more progressive place? …).”
Their sons, Jazz, five, and Kio, two, are encouraged to make their own decisions. The boys, who like to have long hair and wear dresses, are often mistaken for girls.
They are “unschooled” – a movement of homeschooling which allows children to plan their own days without tests or homework.
The couple decided to bring up Storm without a gender after Jazz suffered an “intense” time over people’s reaction to his appearance.
Their decision was reinforced after Mr Stocker read the 1978 book X: A Fabulous Child’s Story about a child with no gender who rises above bullying.
Mrs Witterick, currently a full-time mother, told the newspaper: “When the baby comes out, even the people who love you the most and know you so intimately, the first question they ask is, ‘Is it a girl or a boy?’”
Mr Stocker, a teacher, said: “If you really want to get to know someone, you don’t ask what’s between their legs.”

Could be a problem when the child goes to school and finds there are separate toilets for boys and girls.

Could be a problem when the child goes to school... It won't be going to school, skylark. But in the free-and-easy atmoshere of its home, who's going to ensure that it keeps its genitals covered at all times?

Ah - yes, I had read about the home schooling but it had slipped my mind by the time I posted. I wonder how they refer to Storm to third parties? Surely they can't just keep saying "it"?

Ah - yes, I had read about the home schooling... I wouldn't really call it 'schooling' myself: 'They are “unschooled” – a movement of homeschooling which allows children to plan their own days without tests or homework.'The only 'Storm' I know of is Storm Jameson.

Is Storm a boy's name or a girl's name? I'm sure it's a girl's name. It's a silly name. That's all one needs to know about it. I think the best-known modern example is the Marvel Comics X-Person, Storm. See also this. I just noticed the parents' names — Kathy Witterick and David Stocker. So s/he will presumably be Storm Witterick and/or Storm Stocker. My money's on the latter. (Shame the father wasn't called Harry Caine.)
