I knew you wouldn't let me down, Jean. Your Vivaldi is lovely but it doesn't give me goosebumps and the other one did, when Ms Kirby sang it at least, so now her version will have to go on my list. Phew. That's one disc sorted. Now I have to decide between some Pixies, Cure and Dexy's Midnight Runners. I don't know if I'll have room for all of them.

Here is some more Emma Kirkby - even earlier both in the history of Western music and in her own career: And pippa has posted something for you here.

I wasn't enquiring and never heard of that board. I have this CD. I even had it when it came out originally, on vinyl. Kathy's Emma's name didn't register. She's quite a talent. I also have a 1960s jukebox made in — can you see what it is yet? — Bingen. Bingen am Rhein, to be exact. The best jukebox record I have is, if not Bebopalula, Nutbush City Limits. "Listen: there was once a king sitting on his throne. Around him stood great and wonderfully beautiful columns ornamented with ivory, bearing the banners of the king with great honour. Then it pleased the king to raise a small feather from the ground and he commanded it to fly. The feather flew, not because of anything in itself but because the air bore it along. Thus am I 'A feather on the breath of God'." — Tina Turner

I bought that record in the 80s.

No, not for you - for the person who asked the question, which was trubbs.
