It's on this map. Phew. I was beginning to think Romford had been forgotten. That icon looks like a deformed bag of chips. Must be the work of someone with a Master's Degree in Graphic Design.

..and we'd be buggered if anything happened here because all we've got is one very aggressive traffic warden. Dateline Grantham, Lincs: In yesterday's News of the Wold . . .

Did you see that Manchester 'riot' last night on the TV? There was no 'riot' bit to it really - just groups of young lads breaking into shops. It was robbery, not riot. And then, about mdnight last night, live reporting from Manchester, and there's a 7 or 8 year old lad on his bike cycling around behind the reporter. Maybe London got the worst of it. Certainly, listening to people who live in London, it sounds like it was pretty bad. Depends on the area you live, I suppose. It was very sad hearing about people who have lost their businesses though. Usually, insurance doesn't cover civil disturbances and you can bet the insurance companies will do everything in their power to avoid paying out.

Police GET STUCK IN! How long before the police are criticised for being 'too heavy handed' by yoof spokespeoples? Why wait for them? I'll happily do it now. They started it by being less than communicative (let's not say lying, as that's not nice) about their shooting of a black guy and mishandlng the whole thing completely. And now, all over the internet, I'm being asked to cheer for a clip of them battering some teenage miscreant. I don't think so. Police are more part of the problem than they are part of the solution.

Riot this has nothing to do with the shooting this pure theft and arson by people who think life owes them a living. As you pointed out young children who should be safe at home have joined in. Why are the parents not keeping them safe at home. There has been a big ho ha over children left at home alone while the parent goes on holiday, yet there is non when they allow young children to roam the streets getting into trouble.

I think the police have handled it well, and in such extreme situations and often not being backed up by government or the public as we've seen in the past, I think they've been quite marvellous this time.
And yes, quite happy to see the little bastards being booted.

Because Sesley there will always be people like Riot ready to blame everyone else for thuggery and criminality. Watch the footage of the twats robbing the young teenager after pretending to help him and then see them swaggering away with his stuff and then tell me these people are 'victims' . Bowlocks.

..and Darcus Howe way off beam...
Blame unrest last Saturday night on the death of Mark Duggan, but what has occurred since then had absolutely nothing to do with police rights or wrongs.

Calm yourselves you sweetie-wives.
The police are not to blame for the rioting and looting; Criminals are responsible.
But asking questions of the police is not - repeat NOT - the same thing as making excuses for rioting and looting.
Two separate things.
1 - The Met's behaviour must be questioned to lay to rest the concerns which it is causing, legitimate concerns.
2 - Rioters and looters are scum of the earth.

Gone viral today is a video of coppers kicking the shit out of some guy in a hooded top on a bike in a back street of Manchester.
Such is the state of moral panic, I was unsure if I was supposed to cheer this or condemn it.
On balance, I think a mild condemnation is in order.

(and change your name just until this week is over...it's confusing) Cameron told the police to stick the boot in and reclaim the streets..and that was the correct thing to do...tonight no repeat of what we've seen in previous nights. Unprecedented and extreme behaviour calls for tough tactics..it has to do when property, livelihoods and people's lives are at risk. If it were politically motivated I'd probably be more sympathetic but these were mostly kids simply running riot for the hell of it and to get free stuff! You can't have that...you just can't. It has to be quashed and short sharp shocks are just what was needed. Yes, I enjoyed watching these swaggering jeering louts get their just desserts...and I'm not alone. What else could they have done to stop it?

your are right the police will have to answer to the shooting.I do understnad the man had a gun and therefore at risk of being shot. What sets us apartrt form other countrys is our right to question without fear. I know everyone here in this part of the world are uttely disgusted at the mob behaviour, they stole and destroyed peoples livelyhood, the insurance claims that will be made will have a knock on effect on all of us and yes peoples jobs were threatened. The theft was disgusting and today the list of people they caught were not poor down and outs, but people employed !!in jobs like school teachers. The thieves carry off tv's from that currys looked well dressed.
