Downton Abbey - 2nd series

I want to know something about this programme:

Is it considered to be genuinely good - like I Claudius, say, was - or do its fans regard it as high camp?

I have never seen it, but every new thing I hear about it makes me think of it as a camp laff riot: the latest being that the plot is apparently often advanced by having someone overhear something that they shouldn't. This really is the worst sort of Soap plot device.

If you're going to watch it, you need to see Series 1 first. IMO the better of the two - nicer costumes.

I loved it Aubs, as did Trubbs. But then we're girls*. Girls like that kind of thing.
