I did my first TV interview yesterday. That was an eye-opener. I genuinely haven't a clue what I said, I was so nervous. All the mental rehearsals and everything went straight out the window. The upside of that is what I said was genuine, not carefully thought out and planned to attract as many voters as possible whilst alienating as few as possible. They put the camera literally 6 inches from your face. All you can see is the lens and all the bits strapped on around it. My hands were sweating and my knees were shaking so much I was worried the vibrations would shake the camera. I do remember calling politicians liars though. In fact, I might have repeated that once or twice. Filming again next week. Hopefully it gets easier. Is there a "Watch it again" link available?

Of course it will get easier What sort of make-up are you using? Max Factor and Mac are good choices. Bodgett has some good tips for lipstick colour. Best Beloved was on the local news once. They slap extra make up on you - she was nearly blinded by the extra mascara that was shoved on!

It's being broadcast next Wednesday. 2.30pm "Politics Now" on BBC Scotland. I expect it'll be on IPlayer after that. You know how it is though - 30 minutes of filming will end up as 10 seconds of air-time.

Fair enough. Vote for corruption. How many of their MPs have been done for fraud now? Wasn't one in court just last month?
The whole idea of UKIP in Brussels is a fraud anyway. Don't get me wrong, I agree with quite a few of the things UKIP say, but the place to say it is in Westminster. Only Westminster has the power to get the UK out of Europe.
UKIP MEPs vote No to every single vote they bother turning up for- whether it's good for Britain or not. They're there riding the gravy train, committing fraud for which one of them is probably going to jail and achieving nothing. Collecting every allowance they can get their hands on and pocketing it - is that worth voting for?

I see that lunatic John Swireburn (?), former 'Pensioners Party' MSP and outright nutter, is standing for the Jury Team at the Glasgow North East by-election?
My, he'll do your cause a lot of good!

Where did you see that Riot? - I've had reporters calling me up about Glasgow but no one mentioned him.

He was interviewed on the main STV Scottish news there, brandishing about his Jury Team leaflet.

John Swinburne (born July 4, 1930 in Pennsylvania) is the founder of the Scottish Senior Citizens Unity Party (SSCUP) and was that party's sole representative in the Scottish Parliament from 2003 until 2007. He is also a director of Motherwell Football Club.
He has also recently called for reintroduction of the 'Belt' or 'Tawse' into Scottish schools, expressing the opinion that corporal punishment would solve what he believes are endemic discipline problems. This statement was condemned by other MSPs and by the teaching union, the EIS.
He lost his seat in the 2007 election.

I'll check the link out later but yes, he is a few chips short of a supper.
But then, he has to get through an Open Primary first just to be a candidate.

Swinburne, 72, is said to have admitted that he was homophobic at an election rally attended by Jack McConnell, the first minister, last month.
The Motherwell FC director allegedly launched into a tirade against homosexuals after he was asked his views on same-sex marriage.
Standing alongside McConnell at the hustings in Thornlie parish church in Wishaw, he said: “I really do not understand these people. I think they need help. They must be sick or something. I will not support these queer folk.” www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/scotland/article1133456.eceYes. Nice one Jury Team!

He's no chance of standing for Jury Team then, none whatsoever. Line 1 of a legal agreement I had to sign is "I agree not to support any policies discriminating on the basis of race, colour, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religious or other belief".

Thanks for that Riot, I've watched the link. He's shooting his mouth off. Note there was no comment from Jury Team there. He doesn't understand the selection process.

Well him appearing on the main news brandishing your leaflet has created a bit of a problem for you then, hasn't it?

No - I'd say it presents an opportunity actually. A chance to get it into people's heads that Jury Team isn't a party, it's a support group but it only supports people who believe in equality and non-discrimination. This is a good chance for us to get our message across.
