For the last ten days or so I've not been much fun and I'm sure you're all sick to the back teeth of hearing about the "other thing" that I'm doing. I'm sorry, it's taken up so much of my time that I've become a bit obsessed - and nobody likes an obsessive.
I promise to be the cheeky chappy again when I've recovered.

I think most of us are pretty proud of you for going after something that is important to you swl.

Maybe you should have a contingency plan, SWL - have you thought about local politics? One of the brightest Tory ministers - and there well might be others - cut his teeth at district council meetings. That (in my opinion) is where independent candidates really have merit.
