The whole thing's turning into a damp squib. I suppose when the results come in from the Euro's is when the really dirt will start flying about. So far most folk just seem to be going; "Ah well, never mind".

We noticed ! I voted UKIP because I want us to step back from the European super state which no-one has voted for . The conservative teller at my polling station agreed with my discussion . We had no locals here . The fact that UKIP south-east MEP Ashley Mote was imprisoned last year for fraud put me off a bit.

Sad to see Caroline Flint go, she is kinda easy on the eye. AH Trouble is - she's got the nasty whiney voice of an eight year old and you really wouldn't want to have to wake up to that noise in the morning! and she does come across as incredibly stupid......but stilll, if you don't intend for her to say much then you'll be alright won'tcha! Patrick runs and hides somewhere for being so innately sexist

Funny that nobody mentions her Tunisian husband it's rumoured she had a hand in deporting.
She showed her true colours - sucking up to Gordon with the most amazingly arrogant interview on Thursday night, then throwing her toys out of the pram on Friday afternoon when she doesn't get what she wanted.

Funny that nobody mentions her Tunisian husband it's rumoured she had a hand in deporting. Nobody?'She is similarly straightforward when I ask her about her first marriage to Saief Zammel, a 28-year-old Tunisian stockbroker whom she met on holiday in 1985. The couple had two children - Karim, now 22, and Hanna, now 20 - but split up after a series of incidents, one of which led to Zammel's arrest on charges of violent disorder and his deportation.' Perhaps he had more of a hand in his own deportation than you imply.

I love the line - "Now Caroline Flint is minister for Europe - and the only MP who could pull off a £30 dress". I think Berlusconi would give her a run for her money.
What a startlingly fawning article Jean. Given the source though, it's hardly surprising.
"Has she ever experienced sexism among her older, male colleagues? "No, not really," she says without hesitation."
Given her allegations of Brown using women as "window dressing", that looks rather like a lie to me.
And she employs her husband on taxpayers money, quelle surprise.
Not only is she clearly avaricious in her quest for power, she's incompetent. On her watch, Spain managed to get the EU to grant them de facto sovereignty over Gibraltar and made a grab for the territorial waters around it. Perhaps if she had been paying more attention to her job of protecting Britain's interests in the EU rather than manouvering to climb the greasy pole, this wouldn't have happened. "I've always just wanted to do the best job I can," she says. Bollocks. This is the woman who openly said "I haven't read the Lisbon Treaty". As the Government's Minister for Europe, wouldn't it have been a good idea to do so?
Not entirely sure about the discriminatory nature of the group that helped her initial run as a Labour Candidate. Emily's List (which gave grants to Flint) says "Any woman member of the Labour Party who is seeking selection as a candidate for the Scottish Parliament, the Welsh Assembly, the European Parliament and Westminster may apply for an EMILY Grant. Applications must fulfil Labour Party criteria; support the programme and values of the Party and be pro-choice."
This is clearly sexist and discriminatory. Imagine the furore if a similar organisation existed that only gave money to men because they were men.

What a startlingly fawning article Jean. I made no comment about that - I quoted it only to show that you were wrong to say as you did that 'nobody' had mentiond CF's first husband, and that your statement that she'd 'had a hand in' getting him deported might give a misleading impression of what happened. It's probably as well for an aspiring politician not to get caught out in half-truths.

I knew I had a good reason for not voting UKIP:'Ukip MEP Godfrey Bloom said in 2004 that he joined the women's rights committee in the EU parliament because "I just don't think they clean behind the fridge enough". In 2007, he complained that talk on the European women's committee always gravitated towards rape and prostitution, saying, "None of them are in danger of the first or could earn their living from the second."'

"half-truths"? Hardly."Casting aspersions" perhaps. The fact is the woman has a very grubby past that she's keen to gloss over. Whatever. Given her petulant display of political suicide, it's fair to say she's history. And as for Bloom ...

But it's true. I don't clean behind my fridge enough. Sarcastic B*****d of a washing machine engineer pointed out we had mice when I'd pulled out the machine this week. Never heard them, the cat's not interested in where they've allegedly been, never had any food tampered with! I reckon it was just old stuff. Slugs we have - Mice?
