I'd never hurt a dog (or any animal, come to that), but I'm just not comfortable with dogs. I prefer cats. Dogs are too much effort, all that walking, all that picking up crap with the aid of a Tesco carrier bag, worrying that you can't leave them alone in the house for more than a few hours because they'll get lonely. Cat's never get lonely. They don't give a damn so long as you feed them and let them scratch the leg of the sofa. However, I'm sure some of you will disagree, but, like a cat, I don't give a damn.

Agreed on every point. Plus I don't like the dog's noisy, smelly, and subservient and/or savage nature. Dog: These people look after me, feed me, and love me. They must be Gods.Cat: These people look after me, feed me, and love me. I must be a God.Cats every time. But I would never hurt a dog.

Are we talking about the report that says cat owners are more intelligent than dog owners?...that cat owners are 1.36 times more likely to have a college degree than dog owners? www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/personal-view/7189934/Im-living-proof-that-cat-owners-cant-be-all-that-clever.html I'm neither at the moment but I miss the dog more than I miss the cat so... Dogs. I am a woman of the people. An everywoman. Not some over-educated toff on UC! i like both. got a cat at the moment. but if i had to choose i think i would say im a dog person. theyre far more flavoursome. When they lick you, you do not have to lick back. Repeat: Do NOT lick back.

Hi Lil. It's cat owners that are the allegedly intelligent ones, we doggers are supposed to be thick. Now so far, we have 2 in the dog camp who don't even own a dog and one of them licks his invisible dog back, and now you come along with your 2 dogs make you twice as brainy theory... We need to stop helping the catters with their arguments!

Having said the above, I did make friends a couple of weeks back with a golden retriever when I took my grandchildren to the park. We had a ball with us and I had great fun throwing the ball and the dog bringing it back. He was so excited that he had someone to play with.
However, the ball got all slobbery and he punctured it with his teeth. Still, it was fun while it lasted. His owners carried the Tesco bag of shame though.

Cats must be rubbish because I've never seen a beggar trying to attract funds with a cat lying on the pavement next to him.
That's surely proof of something?

ITS PROOF that whatever the circumstances you will never reduce a cat to that level of poverty.. theyre a bit more proactive than sitting on their arses all day trying to get people to feel sorry for them.

I loved my dog but I wouldn't want another one; I would expect them to be like she was, even when I know that's impossible. My brother got one just after mine died, and she was a good dog. She looked a lot like mine but was very different and I resented her a bit because of this; very unfair I know. In mitigation, I did not let her know how I felt.
I also didn't much like to see other dogs because my dog didn't like them - dogs she didn't know anyway. And I still feel a bit like that; but I like cats I don't know.
So, apart from one or two dogs, cats.
(By the way, cats can do that pathetic begging just as well as dogs. They tend to be more noisey about it, though. Maybe it's demanding, more than begging.)

Will anyone with a brain let me email the photos to them, and kindly post them on here, as me and Photobucket shall forever be enemies....? What to do Lily is this . . . attach the photos to your post and then you don't need to upload them. When you are posting, in the line just below the subject is a line which says 'Attachment' and offers you a 'browse' option. Just add the photos directly from your computer.
