32" sounds good, you'll have it sorted by bedtime with a bit of luck Mind, my OH never has the right tool to do anything useful I think I had better go now-I know size does not matter but 32"?? Lol, I meant it, he's always leaving screwdrivers etc lying round, then he's amazed when, weeks later, it's been moved

We have a picture. IT's some rugby game. It's HUGE. It's enormous. I hate it. The first time I saw my 42 incher I was blown away, "what an enormous beast" I cried, but now, it just looks "normal". The picture will take a bit of getting used to as well, Digital and Plasma TV's are very different from standard CRT's, but once you adjust, you will love it. Get a spliff, some snacks and a DVD on the go...preferably, a big, epic movie with lot's of good effects and marvel at your new family member. AH

20 years ago, RS were the best for solid hi-fi at really good prices, they had knowledgable, helpfull staff who would help you choose the best stuff for YOU. Now they are just another high-street shop looking to sell you whatever they can for a bit of commision. They still have decent prices, especially for end of the line stuff, but they just aren't the chain they used to be. AH Sounds a bit like Empire Direct. Who have just been taken over by - Richer Sounds!

They do say that if your handbag weighs more than three pounds of sugar, then you're in danger - if it's a shoulder bag especially - of doing some serious damage to your shoulder, neck and or back.
Better off with a ruckie.

AH I imagine that if I was stuck for somewhere to sleep at night I'd book a hotel like any normal person. I can foresee no circumstances where it will be useful to have sleeping materials with me at all times.

I bought Karen a radley bag for her birthday a few years ago and it was only about £50 or something.
How big are these bags you are buying? If you can put books and crap in it it is too big to be a handbag.

There's a brilliant shop at the MacArther Glen Shopping centre just outside Ashford. They have Radley, Tula and other decent bags at a fraction of the normal price.

What makes a handbag that costs £300 half decent? What is it made out of? Probably a designer label and a sweatshop! I have thought of buying a new tv (if I won the premium bonds). We have a 26 inch old style tv at the moment, but as we get such a good picture on it, we are loath to part with it. We paid £20 for cover for the tube if it blew when the guarantee ran out. Just last year it did and it was taken away, fixed and delivered back good as new within a week. At no extra cost. By the way did you know that only one company makes the old syle tvs any more, as everyone else has gone to flat panel ... and that is JVC.

We have a picture. IT's some rugby game. It's HUGE. It's enormous. I hate it. I sympathise. We bought our monster after trying and failing to get channel 5 on our old one (long story). So we got a digital, DVD, HD ready flatscreen TV a couple of years back and I still haven't really got used to it, though nature documentaries are good. All went well until we decided to invest too in a DVD player. It turns out we couldn't record a different programme to the one we are watching so - wait for it - we were then advised (by the man we paid to install it) to buy a new set top box. That works, if you don't mind the TV screen going green. So if you wonder why I spend so much time on line, here's the answer.

Speaking as one who is to handbags what Imelda Marcos was to shoes, I'm with Riot on this. A good handbag (not one of yer £30 jobbies) is an investment. It'll last years unfortunately, removing my excuse to purchase another... I agree that a good leather handbag is the correct thing to buy, but as for it lasting years, well yes it will. But will it still be fashionable 10 years from now? I very much doubt it. In which case you have a very expensive item occupying valuable space at the back of the wardrobe.

What gets me, is when you see these TV's and all the Scart lead plugs are at the side? Why? Along the bottom makes sense, so they can be tucked neatly out of the way - but is seems very Heath Robinson to have (as the old advert had it:) half a ton of spaghetti hanging down there? What Damn fool invented the Scart lead in the first place too? That stupid plug was outdated when it was invented! for years Round pin "din" plugs have been doing a similar job far more efficiently - and USB cables now carry the same information. I smell a rat somewhere - 'cos they were inefficient to begin with - yet they ended up on every telly and video going! I hope our telly lasts, Cos I'm holding out for the next generation of TV's that do away with the aerial and just get all the programmes via the internet. Then perhaps even the BBC will have to be a subscription service. It'll be "Pay as you watch" all round!
